Overview

This event is an opportunity to engage with new people, challenge yourself, and enjoy the picturesque surroundings of the Lake District. It's suited for both experienced enthusiasts and beginners that want to try wakesurfing in a supportive environment. Our base at Hawkshead YHA offers heated camping pods for a comfortable stay surrounded by nature, providing a quiet retreat after a day on the water. We'll enjoy yoga in the outdoors and take a hike into the Langdales, with an optional cold water swim in Stickle Tarn.

Saturday 22nd June

On Saturday we'll meet at the Windermere Marina for optional lunch, drinks and to get to know this years group. We'll head out to the Lake in the afternoon where we'll all get some time on the water, with an in head mic and lessons from our expert Wakesurf guides.

Saturday Evening

We'll head for an evening meal in the quaint town of Windermere to enjoy some local food. Afterwards we'll head to our camping pods where we'll relax around a firepit and chat into the evening starlight.

Sunday Morning

If the weather permits we'll take to the outdoors for some light morning meditation and yoga to the sounds of nature and the morning sunlight glistening through the trees.

Sunday Afternoon

A moderate hike, in a relaxed pace up the Langdales to Stickle tarn where we'll take a cold water dip after a relatively steep hike finishing with a stop off at a country pub on the way down before we say our goodbyes.

FAQs

Please bring comfortable clothing for yoga and hiking, swimwear for Wakesurfing, a water bottle, sunscreen, insect repellent, personal yoga mats, and any personal medication. We also recommend a hat and sunglasses for protection against the sun. Appropriate  trainers or boots for hiking 

Absolutely! Its encouraged. Our events are designed to accommodate all skill levels, from beginners to advanced participants. We have experienced instructors who will provide personalised guidance to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience.

The hike will be moderate and will require a fair level of fitness but is also very accessible. The walk will be at a leisurely pace and will be marked/pathed or with steps but will have a fair amount of elevation. There will be no element of scrambling. Our events are created to be accessible to all levels if deemed there is no health and safety risk. The health and safety of our clients has to be our number one priority. If you are unsure if this is right for you or whether you have a health implication to injury that may prohibit you from participating, please contact us, we'd be happy to discuss your needs. 

We will be staying in shared cabins that offer a comfortable and rustic experience. Each cabin is equipped with basic amenities, including beds, linens, and shared on-site bathrooms and kitchen facilities. 

The retreat typically starts on Saturday around lunchtime where we will meet for lunch and get to know your group before we had out on the lake. after our time on the wakeboard we'll take showers (available at the Marina and head for an evening meal. We'll finish the evening around a campfire at the site. On Sunday morning if the weather permits we will head outside for a morning yoga session, head for a hike after breakfast and finish up at an afternoon country pub before heading home.

Meals won't be included over this weekend. We will meet for lunch for those that want to eat out before the wakesurf (not mandatory). We also have plans to eat out on Saturday evening however, there are shared kitchen facilities at the camping pods for those that wish to bring and cook their own food. 

Same goes for breakfast. Please bring or buy anything you would like for breakfast, you can use the kitchen facilities with fridge etc to store food or bring any camping equipment if you'd prefer to cook out in nature!

The Wakesurf will take place at Windermere Marina village. Detailed directions and transportation options will be sent upon registration. Carpooling is encouraged, and we can assist in arranging shared rides if notified in advance. 

Cancellations made more than 30 days before the retreat start date will receive a full refund, minus 20% deposit payment. Cancellations made within 30 days of the event will receive a 50% refund. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for cancellations made within 14 days of the event.

In the unlikely event that Active Odyssey must cancel the event due to circumstances out of their control i.e. weather or otherwise, if there is a date change you will be offered the option of moving your booking to the new date, booking another event around the same value or receiving a full refund, less will be issued in the circumstance that none of these options are viable. 

Participants must be at least 18 years old to attend the retreat but, other than that, all ages are welcome (and encouraged).

Safety is our top priority. All activities are conducted under the supervision of certified instructors. We provide all necessary safety equipment for wakesurfing, and participants are briefed on safety protocols for all activities.
