A scenic walk to the iconic Darwen Tower, enjoy a feel-good Pilates session, learn the art of gin making at a local distillery, sample local flavours and finish the day together with a cosy Sunday roast. Your BALANCE Retreat Day Schedule

12:00 PM | Welcome & Meet the Community

Arrive at Spring Bank Manor Hotel and settle into the day. Meet like-minded women, grab a warm welcome and get ready for an afternoon designed around movement, connection and fun.

12:30 PM | Scenic Walk to Darwen Tower

We'll head out together for a refreshing countryside walk to the famous Darwen Tower. Take in the stunning Lancashire views, enjoy great conversation and reconnect with nature.

2:00 PM | Feel-Good Pilates Session

After our walk, it's time to move and stretch with an uplifting Pilates class suitable for all experience levels. Expect mindful movement, improved mobility and a chance to reset both body and mind.

3:15 PM | Gin-Making Experience

Discover the fascinating world of gin making with a hands-on experience at a local distillery. Learn about botanicals, flavours and the craft behind creating the perfect blend.

4:15 PM | Gin Tasting & Take-Home Bottle

Sample locally crafted gin and enjoy tasting different flavour profiles. You'll also create your own mini bottle to take home as a reminder of the day.

Non-alcoholic options are available throughout the experience.

5:00 PM | Sunday Roast & Connection

We'll finish the day with a delicious Sunday roast shared together. Relax, reflect on the day and enjoy meaningful conversations with the community.

6:00 PM | Farewell

The retreat takes place at Spring Bank Manor Hotel in Darwen, Lancashire and is designed as a one-day event. If you're travelling from further afield, there are accommodation options available nearby which can be booked separately.

BALANCE is perfect for women who enjoy wellness, movement, community and trying new experiences. Whether you're new to retreats or have attended many before, you'll feel right at home.

Not at all. The Pilates session is designed to be welcoming and accessible for all levels, including complete beginners.

Absolutely. Many women attend solo and quickly make connections within the community. You'll be warmly welcomed from the moment you arrive.

The walk is designed to be enjoyable and accessible for most fitness levels. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.

That's completely fine. Non-alcoholic options will be available during the gin-making and tasting experience.

Your ticket includes the guided walk, Pilates class, gin-making experience, gin tasting, a mini bottle of gin to take home, Sunday roast and the full retreat experience.

We recommend comfortable activewear, walking shoes, a water bottle, a light waterproof layer and anything else you need to feel comfortable throughout the day.

Please let us know about any dietary requirements when booking and we'll do our best to accommodate them.

Parking information and final event details will be provided before the retreat.

BALANCE combines wellness, movement, connection and fun in a way that reflects real life. It's about embracing both self-care and enjoyment, creating meaningful memories while taking time to recharge.

Absolutely! If you're travelling from further away or fancy making a weekend of it, you can book a room at Spring Bank Manor Hotel the night before, subject to availability. They often have weddings on weekends, so we'd recommend booking early if you'd like to stay.

ACTIVE ODYSSEY COMMUNITY EXPERIENCES – TERMS & PARTICIPATION WAIVER

Active Odyssey offers free community walks, hikes, day tours and meet-ups designed to create opportunities for movement, connection and access to the outdoors with like-minded people.


These experiences are community-based and are offered free of charge. Participation is voluntary and by booking an experience you acknowledge and agree to the following:


  1. Participation in outdoor activities and physical exercise involves inherent risks which cannot be completely eliminated. Risks may include, but are not limited to, uneven terrain, slips, trips, falls, weather conditions, physical exertion, illness, injury, accidents, environmental hazards and the actions of other participants.
  2. By booking and participating, you acknowledge these risks and voluntarily accept responsibility for your participation.
  3. You confirm that you are physically and medically fit to participate and accept responsibility for determining whether an activity is suitable for your own health, fitness level and abilities.
  4. Participants are responsible for bringing suitable clothing, footwear, medication, food, water and any personal equipment required.
  5. Certain experiences may be hosted, organised or led by independent hosts. Unless specifically stated otherwise, these hosts are independent individuals operating in their own capacity and are not employees, agents, partners or representatives of Active Odyssey.
  6. Active Odyssey may act solely as a facilitator or promoter of certain community experiences and does not control or supervise independent hosts or assume responsibility for the conduct, acts, omissions or services of independent hosts.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, by completing your booking you agree to release and waive claims against Active Odyssey, its founders, organisers, volunteers and representatives for loss, damage, injury, expense or claims arising from participation in an experience, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
  8. By booking and attending an Active Odyssey community experience, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these terms.
